Vieux Château Certan 2009

This is one of the most prestigious chateaux in Pomerol. The soil is a mixture of iron-rich clay and gravel, making it an ideal terroir for Merlot-based wines. Many of the vines are over 50 years old, producing grapes with a sense of concentration. The winemaking style is traditional and refined, emphasizing elegance over excessive richness.

2009 was considered the "Great Vintage of the Century" throughout Bordeaux, and in Pomerol, Merlot in particular was perfectly ripe, which benefited Vieux Chateau Certan as well. With a very high proportion of Merlot, this wine features a rich fruitiness and silky tannins, resulting in a very rich and sensual taste.
