Vieux Château Certan 2000

This is one of the most prestigious chateaux in Pomerol. The soil is a mixture of iron-rich clay and gravel, making it an ideal terroir for Merlot-based wines. Many of the vines are over 50 years old, producing grapes with a sense of concentration. The winemaking style is traditional and refined, emphasizing elegance over excessive richness.

The 2000 vintage is considered one of Bordeaux's "Great Vintages of the Century" and an especially excellent year for Pomerol, with great potential for long-term aging. The Merlot is highly ripe, highlighting the rich, sensual style characteristic of Pomerol. The Cabernet Franc ratio is modest, resulting in smooth, silky tannins.
