Features |
This prestigious Château de Saint-Julien, classified as a second-growth estate, is known for its wines that combine power and elegance. Compared to its Leoville sister estates, Barton and Las Cases, its style is more vibrant, soft, and fruity. Since the 1980s, its reputation has skyrocketed thanks to improved quality, and in recent years, it has earned a reputation comparable to top Châteaux. While primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, it also has a slightly higher proportion of Merlot, resulting in a richer, more approachable flavor. The 2010 vintage was perfectly balanced, with exceptionally high levels of grape ripeness. Stable weather conditions, combined with a warm, dry summer, allowed for healthy fruit development. This wine exhibits a complex interplay of black fruit, spice, tobacco, and a hint of vanilla. The palate is powerful, with firm tannins and elegant acidity, resulting in a long, lingering finish. This wine's exceptional structure and excellent aging potential will only improve with age. |
