Features |
Located in the village of Pauillac in the Bordeaux-Médoc region, this estate is known for producing wines that are particularly powerful and have the potential for long-term aging, even among the five great chateaux. Its distinctive terroir is the "L'Enclos" plot, which is well-drained and contains stones and gravel. The Cabernet Sauvignon-based wines produced here boast extremely fine tannins and impressive structure. The label features a "tower (Tour)." This tower is the symbol of the chateau and is part of the fortress called "La Tour Saint-Lambert," built in the 17th century. The tower was originally used as a fortress during the Hundred Years' War between England and France, and symbolizes the historical background of Chateau Latour and the robust style of its wines. 2003 was a year affected by extreme heat, and despite the unusually hot weather, the grapes in Latour's vineyards ripened surprisingly well. The Cabernet Sauvignon in particular was powerful, characterized by deep fruitiness and a rich body. Nuances of black fruit, spice, and tobacco are intricately intertwined, resulting in a wine with exceptionally rich, firm tannins. The wines will become smoother with age, and have the potential to develop even further. Despite the hot weather, this vintage embodies the exceptional quality that is characteristic of Latour. |
