This prestigious chateau, rated Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru (B), is located on a limestone plateau and produces wines that make the most of the terroir. Built in the 17th century as a fortress for the Knights, this historic chateau covers an area of approximately 20 hectares. The quality of its wines has improved significantly in recent years, resulting in elegant yet powerful wines. Using organic farming methods, the chateau focuses on winemaking that brings out the natural characteristics of the soil and grapes. Despite the extremely hot weather of 2003, a rich and intense wine was produced that maintained excellent balance. The rounded mouthfeel of the Merlot-dominated grapes is fused with the elegant minerality of the limestone soil, resulting in a wine that can be enjoyed for a long finish. |
